Not only does it allow us to circumvent the UN, it also allows the President a pretext for circumventing congress.
Not that he needs it. While I don't think congress would be quite so eager to roll over and expose their furry little bellies this time around, the supposed 'war powers' act has been thoroughly defanged over the years.
