Harry Potter and the Religious Controversy

I didn't know what board to put this under, Reccomended Readings, or Religion etc. Just thought I'd get that out of the way first thing.

Is anyone on this site actually offended by the Harry Potter books for religious reasons? I know people who are because it is "Witchcraft, and witchcraft is EVIL!" Bullshit. How can somthing that DOES NOT, NEVER HAS, AND NEVER WILL EXIST, sich as witchcraft, be evil?

Yeah, but you see, fundamental Christians are so gay that they actually do believe in magic.

Anyways, not everyone who has strong religious beliefs thinks that Harry Potter is bad; it's actually only a small minority that complain. In fact, I work with a guy who ministers at a church on weekends, and he says he wants to read the Harry Potter books because of all the good things he's heard about them.

I think the Vatican, or some lighter religious authority, recently stated that they do not consider the Harry Potter books to be harmful or dangerous to children.

And jeeeez. Quit posting topics trying to stir something up with narrow-minded people. There's very few of them here, save for maybe Vince and Ronnie Raygun.

Ok, I am sorry. I did not realize that there are only a few religious fundamentalists on this site. I will try to stop posting things of this nature. It just pisses me off when I hear people say stuff about me going to "hell" for reading things that are fiction. I guess it is just that I like to complain about the stupidity of others while enjoying the good things that they deprive themselves of like Harry Potter.
