On his January 17th show he had a television producer (who continually reminds people that he is a "gay man" and a "gay journalist") who is producing a television show called "Private School." The show is a reality series where they randomly pick a child from a public school to attend a private school. The producer claims it's really funny to see how excited the parents get because everybody knows that this kid is pretty much destined to fail, and won't be accepted. Phil calls the show cruel, but the man keeps insisting that it's all in fun, because it's facinating to see if he'll fail with dignity or if he'll go "over the edge" and maybe try to pull a "columbine" (though he assures everybody that they would never let that happen). He also goes on to say that being a gay man and a gay journalist that he knows what it's like to not be accepted.
People call in calling him a lunatic and an explotive peice of shit. He continues to maintain that the show isn't bad, and tells everybody how much money the parents are getting for it (a lot). As more angry people call he reveals some more details about certain episodes of the show, to show everybody that it really is a funny, enjoyable show. In doing so he reveals that they are actually sabatoging the boy into failing, by having him use invisible ink to write his homework in (so it fades away by the time he turns it in), cutting holes in the ass of his pants, sending a man to pose as a girl to ask him out and then show the boy he had a penis, and having crew members urinate on his gym clothes before he takes them to school.
As the producer continues to take more shit from the listener's calls, he explains that it isn't about mocking the boy, but celebrating how strong he is for being able to endure all this. He then uses an example: in one episode they told him a formal dance was going to have a hawaiian theme to it. When he shows up in hawaiian shorts and a hawaiian shirt, he runs out of the dance humilated, drives home, takes out his dad's gun, and holds it in his mouth for 3 minutes. He DOESN'T pull the trigger. People are now threatening to kill the producer.
What the listeners who call in don't know is that it's all an elaborate joke. Phil Hendrie was the voice of the television producer and he was having a conversation with himself, in the studio.
