I just watched my DVD copy of this. I hadn't seen it in close to ten years, and I'd forgotten just HOW insanely awesome it is. It's a perfect fucking ten.

I agree. By far the best of the series. Of course they used to show it all the time on tv so I kidna grew a bit tired of it.

It's fantastic, and now that I've finally been allowed to watch it in its original aspect ratio, it's even better.

Also, Marion is the only true Indy dame.

the scene where he shoots the sword guy is just magic every time. But i have to say i think The Last Crusade is the best in the series, because Sean Connery is the greatest human being to ever walk the planet, however that is just comparing a perfect movie to a perfect movie in my opinion.

Sean Connery and Jack Nicholson are equally awesome.

And Raiders of the Lost Ark is completely awesome, and the scene with the shot swordsman is indeed magical every time you see it.

RotLA and TLC are the best in the series, with ToD just below that.

And I still love it after all these years.

And it makes yet more movies I have on VHS AND DVD.

This box set gives me a boner everytime I look at it. And if you watch some of the making-of thingies on the Bonus Disc, you there are a few brief clips of Indy whipping the guy with the sword, rather than shooting him!

well, that's because the shooting thing was an ad-lib by Harrison Ford.

I know the full story but feel not like typing it right now.

He had the runs so he did that so it's be over

I love all of the movies, they kick star war's stupid ass. I think Last Crusade is my favorite, but not by much. They are all just so brillant and always make me feel just fucking happy as shit when I watch them.

From what I understand, the reason they released the DVDs in this packaging (seperate cases for each movie instead of a boxed set like Back to the Future or the Godfather trillogy or something), was so that it would be easier to release an updated box set with part 4 in it, and it wouldn't cheat people into wishing they waited and bought the newer box set.

Anyway, there's an entry for Indy 4 @ imdb.com, so it's at least officially announced.

I love a woman that knows her movie minutia

The full story is a bit longer, but you're essentially right. The original scene was supposed to be a bit of a choreographed fight between Indy and the guy with the sword, but Harrison Ford was sick, and after many takes and retakes, ad-libbed the gunshot. Supposedly, Spielberg thought it was so funny that he left it in the completed movie.

They all got sick from eating the food in Tunisia. John Rhys-Davies shit his pants while filming one of the scenes in the desert.

I laughed so hard when they told the Rhys-Davies story that i almost followed his example.
