I played this game for the first time only a few days ago, and you're right, it does really suck.

this game was pure poision, although i am biast. I aws brought up on the arcade version which was just a beast and then I played this one and i felt wrong. I felt like I had slept with the ugly step sister of snowwhite who had a mild form of insanity.

friends dont let friends play cap'n america on the nes

It is true, it does not hold a candle to the superior arcade version. (I think Genesis had a pretty good port of the arcade version though)

I dunno, I rarely get nostalgic for old 8 bit games anymore after playing next gen systems. I'll take cool stories, great graphics and innovative gameplay over jump, shoot, jump shoot, crappy anime picture thrown on for effect any day.

You know, we turned off the post count feature.

Anyway, for anyone who cares, the arcade version is related in name only. The NES couldn't handle 2.5D beat-'em-ups at that point in its development, apparently.

Superhero games are best with co-op, lots of characters, and bosses that are worth beating.

I suppose the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle series was the only one to have a decent NES port.

Well, at least Cap doesn't get shot like rubbish at the end of the game.

The version that came out on the snes was also quite annoying. Granted, you were given the opportunity to play as all four characters, and co-op isn't just a lame battle mode, but it's still damn near impossible to beat without some kind of cheat code.
