I've been suffering a lot from insomnia recently. It's so damn annoying, lying in bed wide awake for hours only then to find it so hard to get up for work. Then at work I'm so tired all I want to do is lie on the annoyingly comfy looking couch we have in the office. I dream all day of sleeping then when I get to bed, I CAN'T SLEEP!!!!!!!!

Soi it's 12.40am here and I just got up having given up and cracked open a bottle of wine in the hope of drinking myself unconscious.

I'm not asking for advice, I just want to moan. Oh and wanking doesn't help before some wise geezer tells me to do that.

Perhaps you are asleep right now? I have had dreams in which one thing after another was keeping me from sleeping only to find out that I already was asleep.

I had near insomnia for 3 days back in 97 because I couldn't think of what it was called and didn't have access to a dictionary. I finally asked someone and slept a lot better that night.

A couple of shots of NyQuill cures insomnia for 8-15 hours.
Benadryl works pretty well too.

Last night I went for a run, had a shower, read a book and did all the healthy things that are meant to make you sleep.
It didn't work.
Tonight it's booze.
It's almost 2am, I'm gonna risk bed soon.

And yeah, I hate those weird in-between-sleep-and-awake states. After those, I randomly get dead tired during the day. Last time, I fell asleep sitting up several times in Theatre class. I'd close my eyes, get really light-headed, and then jerk awake as my head drifted to my chest.

My grandfather had great success with The Hobbit. My mom told me that it took five pages and he was out. I find The Hobbit engaging enough to keep me from falling asleep, so I'd recommend this college-prep book that freshmen at my college were all assigned to read prior to orientation. It tells you great things (like how to manage money or do well in a job interview) and was a fantastic sleep aide. One of the students noted that we had to read a chapter on actually getting into college, which was pretty pointless as we were in college to be reading that stupid book.
